What a finish to the summer term this Friday when we welcome the magnificent Gary Cain to St Harmonica’s Blues Club.

Gary Cain is a Canadian-born, and now UK-based guitarist, singer, and songwriter with one foot planted firmly in the blues, and the other foot planted in seemingly everything else. He’s been called “ridiculously talented” and a “jaw-dropper” by Blues Matters Magazine. His debut album led one reviewer to exclaim “Oh my God, can this guy play a guitar!” The Gary Cain Band have played major festivals around the world, have been semi-finalists at the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and have opened for George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

In 2016 Gary placed 4th in the world in Grammy-winner Lee Ritenour’s "Six String Theory” blues guitar contest, the largest one in the world with entries from 48 countries, and judged by guitar greats including Joe Bonamassa, Steve Lukather, John Scofield, Vince Gill, & Ry Cooder.

The support comes from our good friend, Edinburgh Big Alan Craig in a rare visit south of the border to entertain us along with his loon, Lindsay Fraser Craig.
Support starts at 8.30pm followed by two sets from the main act starting soon after 9.00pm
It is the first Friday of the month so there is no Blues Club this Friday BUT it is ,of course, our monthly blues jam on Sunday 5th July starting at 7.00pm prompt.
The house band, will kick off proceedings followed by carefully assembled bands selected from the singers and players who turn up on the night, all under the watchful eyes of Vera and Terry Duggan; the results are often magnificent and always interesting.
Jammers:
Sign in on arrival, ideally before 7.00pm, with name and preferred instrument.
We'll supply the drums, keyboard, amps, PA, and DI box for the occasional acoustic instrument.
We will endeavour to swap or cover mics, if requested, but singers are welcome to bring their own.
Queensbury Jamming Rules apply:
⚹ the singer calls the tune, decides the key, and dishes out the solos;
⚹ players: please unpack your instrument, tune up and have everything ready before it's your turn to play;
⚹ solos are generally 2 verses long, unless the singer decides otherwise;
⚹ sets are 3 songs (unless we're running out of time, or your songs are 10 mins long);
⚹ if you aren't a drummer or keyboard player, bring your own instrument. Drummers, do bring your own sticks!
Audience members are also vital to the whole proceedings, and extremely welcome!
Admission is free to all with ’the hat’ offered around for donations.
