Blues on Friday at St Harmonica's

It is always a pleasure to welcome a band to St Harmonica’s for the first time and equally a pleasure to promote young, up and coming blues artists.

So this Friday, 25th September we are proud to bring you the Jack-Austin Despy Blues Band, a three piece outfit led by eighteen year old Jack-Austin Despy who is already establishing himself as one of the standout young guitarists coming through on the UK blues and blues-rock scene.

The band plays a mix of original material and carefully selected covers, with a strong guitar-led blues and blues-rock sound and has performed at venues, festivals and events across the UK and Europe including the Rory Gallagher International tribute festival in Ballyshannon

Jack-Austin has been described as ‘blending the virtuosity of Stevie Ray Vaughan with the passion of Rory Gallagher and the soul of BB King'; he was a finalist in the UK Blues Federation Young Artist of the Year award in 2025 and 2026. Jack performed at our Blues Jam back in May so we know how good he is. Don’t miss him.

And don’t miss the support either, moving towards the upper end of the age spectrum, the magnificent Malcom Hine with Merlin Wildman performing their acoustic blues set Support starts at 8.30pm followed by two sets from the main act starting just after 9.00pm

2026 Membership Cards are available on the door @ £10 for the year. You’ll need your monochrome 2026 membership card for admission from January onwards. Thereafter, throughout 2026, admission is FREE to card carrying members to all Friday Blues evenings and Sunday Jam nights. We just ask for a contribution into the hat to go towards the musicians’ costs.

Come and play or be part of the audience

Sunday 5th July
7.00pm - 10.00pm

It is the first Friday of the month so there is no Blues Club this Friday BUT it is ,of course, our monthly blues jam on Sunday 5th July starting at 7.00pm prompt.

The house band, will kick off proceedings followed by carefully assembled bands selected from the singers and players who turn up on the night, all under the watchful eyes of Vera and Terry Duggan; the results are often magnificent and always interesting.

Jammers:
Sign in on arrival, ideally before 7.00pm, with name and preferred instrument.
We'll supply the drums, keyboard, amps, PA, and DI box for the occasional acoustic instrument.
We will endeavour to swap or cover mics, if requested, but singers are welcome to bring their own.

Queensbury Jamming Rules apply:
⚹ the singer calls the tune, decides the key, and dishes out the solos;
⚹ players: please unpack your instrument, tune up and have everything ready before it's your turn to play;
⚹ solos are generally 2 verses long, unless the singer decides otherwise;
⚹ sets are 3 songs (unless we're running out of time, or your songs are 10 mins long);
⚹ if you aren't a drummer or keyboard player, bring your own instrument. Drummers, do bring your own sticks!

Audience members are also vital to the whole proceedings, and extremely welcome!

Admission is free to all with ’the hat’ offered around for donations.
